A Social Security Number After IR-1/CR-1 Arrival
If you entered with an IR-1/CR-1 spouse visa, check whether you requested a Social Security card on the application. The State Department says it is mailed to the recorded U.S. address; otherwise, apply after arrival. Other routes are not covered.
